The abandoned house was renovated in 2008 and extended to create additional space. The drama of the site dictated the basic concept of the architecture. The structure is minimal in shape and color, a cluster of sharp-edged cubes painted white and grey to reflect the harshness of the land and create an interesting contrast with the blissful infinity of the landscape.

Buffeted by winds and heroically embracing the elements, the residence feels perilous and protected at the same time. The house is built amphitheatrically to take full advantage of the view, with materials such as stone, steel and concrete that create a sense of solidness.

Equipped with built-in sofas and a generous dining table, the outdoor area is bare from decorative elements, allowing the guest to be mesmerized by the beauty of a landscape that changes minute by minute, as the sun dips into the sea and the moon emerges into the night sky. Right at the bottom of the property, a small, deep infinity pool looms over the Ionian, offering the perfect spot to bliss out and take in the natural beauty.

The design of the house was conceived by the owners, a couple with a distinguished taste for interior design and art. Having travelled all around the world collecting experiences and artifacts, the couple created a secluded hideaway that stimulates one’s senses and inspires awe without losing the warmth and human scale of a loving home. The interior had to be powerful to match its dynamic surroundings, yet it also had to be comforting, to create a protective feel. The owners decided to cover many of the walls with a dark grey material that creates an industrial look that blends beautifully with the built-in furniture and post-modern aesthetics of the architecture. Then, they decorated the place throughout with beautiful handmade ethnic pieces and upholstery to spark it up and induce the homeliness of a cozy nest. It is the kind of place where luxury is hidden in details such as the suzani needlework bedcovers and the original handmade Moroccan rugs, the high-end appliances, or the hundreds of candles that have been strategically placed around the house to be able to replace electricity.

The living room is stylish and warm, with dark walls that accentuate the bright colored handmade upholstery. A stylish fireplace is placed amidst tall windows that allow for breathtaking views of the landscape while in the safety of the indoors. Next to the living room is a comfortable study, with a Turkish sofa and a serious collection of books. The kitchen is stylishly decorated and professionally equipped, with high-end appliances and a wood oven. The bedrooms are warm and inviting, pierced by tall windows that allow the guests to admire the beauty of the landscape from the moment they open their eyes. Also, there is a beautiful separate guestroom with a single bed, a kitchenette and a shower bathroom that can be used to accommodate staff or guests.

For guests who appreciate seclusion, a steep path of stone made steps leads away from the house and down to an isolated stone dwelling that has the quality of a monastic cell, with only the distractions of the cerulean surf and siren songs of seagulls interrupting the absolute silence.
